BYE WEEK ARE YOUR 2026 GOERNE CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏆

After years of making the trip to Aspen and coming up short, Denver-based Bye Week finally broke through, defeating the hometown Aspen Kings 7-6 in an overtime thriller to capture their first Goerne Cup title.

Bye Week finished the weekend 5-1, defeating Vail Lacrosse Club 7-4 in the semifinals before taking on Aspen for the championship. After four lead changes and a defensive stand by Aspen forced overtime, Preston Plume provided the heroics, streaking down the right side, shedding a defender and burying the game-winner top shelf to bring the Cup back to Denver.

The championship was a long time coming. Bye Week has been making the trip to Aspen for years in pursuit of the title, with many members of the team playing together for more than two decades.

Bye Week’s Team MVPs:

🧱 Ryan Elliot (Goalie) - Elliot stood on his head all tournament long, coming up big time and again throughout the weekend and helping keep Bye Week alive in key moments on their way to the title.

🔥 Max Abbott (Attack) - Led Bye Week in points while bringing fire and intensity to the offensive end throughout the tournament.

💪 Aaron Palys (Midfield/Attack) - With two players forced to withdraw before the tournament, Palys stepped into an unfamiliar role at attack after typically playing midfield and SSDM. He provided a steady presence on offense and helped fill an important need for the eventual champs.

The victory also earns Bye Week an automatic bid to the 2026 ULAX National Championship in Las Vegas, where they’ll have an opportunity to take on some of the top ULAX teams from around the country. 🎰🥍

The New England Men’s and Women’s Power Rankings are here, highlighting the top teams from 30 Men’s clubs and 12 Women’s clubs competing across the region this summer.

With Dorch Porch, knocking off the favored and reigning 5x champion Bully Boy Bandits in Boston, this sent the New England rankings into a frenzy. The debate continues whether the path to the top runs through Mass or Conn? Purple Reign took the top spot this summer in a highly competitive Fairfield County division, claiming our #1 spot, but don’t sleep on Food Poisoning, who took home the chip in Rhode Island or any of the teams to crack the top ten for that matter.

On the women’s side, BOTG in Boston was the unanimous choice, cruising to the championship game and saving their best for a strong playoff run, however, the emerging squads out of Manchester, Fairfield County, and Providence appear to be making in-roads.

Congratulations to every team that competed this season and we hope to see our top contenders at the National Championship this January.
