Meet The Director
Kenna Larsen
The Lee’s Summit clinic will be led by Makenna Larsen. Born and raised in Lee’s Summit, Makenna grew up with a passion for lacrosse and played at Lee’s Summit North High School, where she started as a draw specialist.
Throughout her lacrosse career, Makenna has competed with ULAX, KCLC, Warriors, St. Thomas Aquinas’ summer team, Texas Hot Sauce, and Westside Wilde. She has competed at top tournaments across the country, specializing in draw control while also gaining experience on attack.
Outside of lacrosse, Makenna attends UMKC, where she is studying Dental Hygiene with a minor in Health and Exercise Science. She also works at Diamond Nutrition, where she continues to grow her knowledge of nutrition and wellness for athletes. She hopes to use this knowledge to better understand and support the physical and mental development of young athletes.
When she’s not on the field, Makenna enjoys hiking, working out, baking, creating music, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She is passionate about using her love for sports and these hobbies to connect with and encourage others.
Makenna is excited to bring her experience, passion, and love for the game to the Lee’s Summit clinic and looks forward to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field!
Jewel Thomas
Jewel Thomas is entering her second year as the Head Coach of Lee’s Summit North Girls Lacrosse, her alma mater. Her passion for lacrosse began as a high school athlete, where she played three years as a defender and started during her final two seasons. She continued her playing career with Diamond Cut Crew KC and was honored with an All-Metro award during her senior year.
Jewel believes one of the greatest parts of sports is being part of a team and creating connections with teammates. Her coaching philosophy focuses on building confident athletes who learn to trust themselves, support one another, and grow both on and off the field.
Outside of coaching, Jewel is currently attending Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley’s Health Institute, where she is studying to become a dental assistant. When she isn’t coaching or studying, she enjoys spending time with friends and being outdoors, especially hiking, spending time at the lake, and finding new adventures.
Jewel is excited to continue growing as a coach and to share her love of lacrosse with the next generation of athletes through ULAX.
